I am the 9th and 10th grade Bilingual School Counselor at the High School for Health Careers and Sciences.

I have worked as an Academic Advisor at two colleges (both private and public).

HSHCS was also the first high school I worked at, in 2005.

I am elated to return home to support our school community.

In addition, I have worked as a Guidance Counselor for 16 years in New York and Florida.

I graduated from SUNY New Paltz and Long Island University (Brooklyn campus).

I am an advocate for all students and a liaison for parents, staff, and the entire school community.

Ms. Alvarez - 11th Grade & 12th Grade Bilingual

Hello,
I am Judith Alvarez, the 11th and 12th grade Guidance Counselor. I obtained my M.S.Ed. with
a Bilingual Certification from LIU and have been a public-school counselor since 2003.

I was born and raised in the Washington Heights area of NYC. I am a mother of two amazing
daughters and love helping the youth of my school community. Daily,

I help guide students
through their academic journey by individually meeting with them to discuss their
graduation requirements, transcripts/credits, and future courses. In addition,

I help students by advocating for them and supporting them with adjusting to high school, time management,
study skills, and career exploration.
