Dear Students, Families, and Staff,
Welcome to the High School for Health Careers and Sciences! It is my honor to serve as your Principal and to be part of a community that is so deeply committed to preparing young people for meaningful futures in healthcare, science, and beyond.
Our school was built on a simple belief: every student deserves a safe, supportive environment where they are known, valued, and challenged to grow. Through our Advanced Placement courses, our Certified Nursing Assistant program, hands-on learning in robotics and hydroponics, and strong partnerships with institutions like Cornell University, Columbia University, and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, we give our students real pathways into the health and science careers of tomorrow.
We are more than a school — we are a community school, which means we care for the whole student. From our on-site health clinic to full-time college counseling, from our Dual Language and bilingual programs to our partnerships with organizations like Catholic Charities, we work every day to remove barriers so our students can focus on learning and growing.
To our families: thank you for trusting us with your children. Your partnership matters, and we welcome you to stay connected through our parent workshops, ESL courses, and ongoing communication with our staff.
To our students: I want you to know that this school believes in you. Whatever your goals — nursing, medicine, research, or something you haven't discovered yet — we are here to help you get there.
Thank you for being part of our HSHCS 06M468 family. I look forward to another year of growth, achievement, and community together.
Warm regards,
Javier Trejo
